Titanium alloys Foil
Titanium alloy foil is a kind of ultra-thin metal sheet composed of titanium and other metal elements (such as aluminum, vanadium, nickel, etc.), with high strength, low density, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and other excellent characteristics, so it has a wide range of applications in various high-tech fields. According to the different alloy composition, titanium alloy foil can be divided into many types, the following are the main types and their applications:
Common titanium alloy foil types:
1. Pure titanium foil (Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3, Grade 4) :
Pure titanium foils are classified according to the purity and strength of titanium, with Grade 1 being the softest and Grade 4 the hardest.
Application: Due to the excellent corrosion resistance of pure titanium, pure titanium foil is mainly used in chemical, Marine engineering, aerospace heat exchangers, condensers and pipeline systems.
2. Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy foil (Grade 5) :
This is the most commonly used titanium alloy, containing 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium, with both high strength and corrosion resistance.
Application: Widely used in aerospace, medical implants, automotive industry. It is commonly used in aircraft structures, engine components, and orthopedic implants such as hip and knee prostheses.
3. Ti-3Al-2.5V titanium alloy foil:
contains 3% aluminum and 2.5% vanadium, has good weldability and formability, moderate strength.
Applications: Mainly used in the aerospace field of hydraulic pipes, exhaust systems, as well as high strength and lightweight requirements of bicycle frames.
4. Ti-0.2Pd titanium alloy foil (Grade 7) :
contains a small amount of palladium, which enhances the corrosion resistance of titanium, especially in acidic environments.
Application: Often used in chemical equipment, offshore engineering and corrosive environments in the petroleum industry, such as storage tanks, pipelines and other equipment.
5. Ti-15Mo-5Zr-3Al titanium alloy foil:
This is a beta titanium alloy with extremely high strength and good formability, often used in applications with high strength and corrosion resistance requirements.
Application: Suitable for the manufacture of Marine equipment, chemical equipment and certain medical devices.
6. Ti-6Al-7Nb titanium alloy foil:
Titanium-aluminum-niobium alloy with excellent biocompatibility and mechanical properties.
Application: Mainly used in medical implants and dental repair materials, such as bone plates and bone pins.
